Lately, I’ve been wondering what makes something addictive. It really seems weird that some there are things in the world that you just can’t get enough of. I’m not talking about a physical addiction like drugs, alcohol, etc. But addictions like stumbleupon, pornography, facebook, gambling, etc. What keeps these people attention? What keeps them wanting more? I haven’t figured out the answer but it sure is fun to think about.
If you’ve got any good links or a good explanation for me, I’d love to hear it.

I think that people use addictions to fill the emptiness, disappointment, failures, problems, and depression in their lives. So gambling, drugs. . . become a medication for them as it provides them with a temporary fix and a way to escape.
Good point. But some of the my addictions (stumbleupon) happen when I’m bored or overly tired. Its a lot like watching TV at 3am, trying to convince yourself to stop “channel surfing”.
That’s not really an addiction, it’s rather a bad habit.
